Starting as root with sudo gives a fully working ide.
ProblemType:
Todays update for raring solved the problem. I have no idea what went
wrong, but nevertheless it seems fixed right now.

The upstream bug works when backported to thunderbird 8. Is it possible
to get the above fix to the standard repo? It will be included in the
official thunderbird 10, if I understand correctly, but that is quite
some time in the future.

Same here with Kubuntu Oneiric Beta 1. Adding "radeon.modeset=0" to grub
solves the problem for me.

I have no additional insight in fixing this bug, but at least it is
possible to just hide it.
I repeat: The following does not fix anything, just hides the error
message.
In Terminal enter:
sudo -s
echo FRAMEBUFFER=y >>/etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/splash
update-initramfs -u
This loads the frameb
I think the bug is specific to netbook hardware. I see it to on my
Aspire AOA 110, too. That is the very same model as Elias, same specs
but newer BIOS 3309.
