Same deal over here on a brand-spanking new Dell Inspiron 1545 running
Jaunty - The crackling is terrible, particularly at high volume and, as
others have mentioned, during Pidgin join / part audio notifications.
Oddly enough, it also seems to happen from time to time when I mute the
audio, too.

The problem's cropped up pretty consistently again for me on a new
laptop, this one running 32 bit Jaunty; Here's the output from beginning
to crash:

Confirmed on multiple Jaunty installs on many different hardware
configurations; Renaming
/usr/share/hal/fdi/preprobe/10osvendor/20-libgphoto2.fdi has worked
perfectly for me in every instance.

Binary package hint: f-spot
In "Browse" view, I select the 5 or so images I'd like to export to
Facebook and then select Photo > Export To > Facebook. In the resultant
dialog box, I click "Login", which opens a Facebook tab in Firefox that
says the application authorized succ
Thanks Alex - Super helpful. Looks like the mozilla folks are also
coming to the conclusion that this is (at least partially) del.icio.us
extension related.

Disabled the official del.icio.us extension 11 days ago and the problem
seems to have gone away completely - Can any other users experiencing
this bug confirm or dis-confirm the theory that this extension may be
the cause?

I can confirm that most every computer I use also has the official
Del.icio.us Bookmarks extension as well; I'll disable myself and report
back as to whether or not it helps.

Mark me down as another person experiencing this issue, though I don't think
it's specific to Ubuntu - It's also randomly occured on my OSX box @ work.
For what it's worth, this problem has plagued me since FF2, consistently, on
many different machines.
