I already tried removing jackd and I still couldn't hear any output from
Audacity. I have latency problems using ardour.

I have the problem with or without JACK or PulseAudio. As I said
Audacity runs under WINE here, but with a few restrictions (Can't choose
bitrate to save mp3s, for example - defaults to 128)

I've tried all of the above tweaks, including killing pulseaudio, and
have failed to get any playback sound.
I use Audacity for professional work. The only thing I can do now is
send the files I've recorded to another (Windoze) machine and edit the
recorded file there.
I can't record on the Windo
