Clint, the honest answer is that I don't know :) The problem is that
it's really just a bring-me-back-my-good-old-system-V-init type of hack,
and any boot process that truly relies on upstart doing its more
advanced things (handling dependencies, using triggers, restarting

I can confirm muszek's second problem in

I cannot sudo anymore. I'm running the latest Gutsy as of today on a
Thinkpad R61 with a stock ubuntu 2.6.22-14.52 and the ipw3495 driver
The same happens to me on a Thinkpad R61: random lockups under heavy
network traffic, although it happens much more rarely (once or twice a
week while continuously running a torrent client).
I use:
- the latest Gutsy as of today
- stock Ubuntu 2.6.22-14.52 kernel
- ipw3495 network driver
- KDE 3.5
