I can confirm that its that Icon Theme as well. I changed the icon
theme, and I no longer have that problem. Its the gTangish one.

I have the same problem as dirken, which started only recently. When
trying to do a backtrace, as dirken said, it freezes. I have done a
backtrace after installing evolution-dbg, but I don't think it has
produced anything important. In any case, here's both the backtrace and
the strace.

It doesn't seem so because of the latest gnome-panel installed. I
have tried to reproduce it and it no longer crashes. So, I think its a fixed
bug.

This is actually x86 not AMD64. I had finished dist-upgraded last night,
and that flickering menu thing was happening. I got rid of the
/etc/xdg/debian.menu-menu symlink (which was broken). And the flickering
