Hi, same thing here also after updating the BIOS to the most recent version
1.26, which was released 2011/07/11.
Other Fn-combinations works though: F7 (touchpad on/off), F8 (sound), F11 (num)

I post here since we talk about smbclient here, and I feel it makes more
sense here than in the duplicate bug.
Same problem on my NAS, a Packard Bell Netstore 3500 device.
Fully patched Intrepid amd64.

I tested two different locations via ssh.
These servers were connected through the Menu>Places>Connect to server.
In the Gnome-Filemanager they show up correctly.
Gnome says this is a SFTP-connection.
In screem when choosing File>Open I can see the connection, navigate
through folders on the serve
