This has been fixed upstream in 4.0-rc1¹.
This bug appeared with recent versions of gtk.
Will 4.0~rc2.dfsg.1 propagate to edgy? I'm not familiar with ubuntu way
of doing things... I think I need to fill a bug against edgy-backports
or something like that?²

No fix required, user needed to install mail-notification-evolution.
Considering the discussion, packaging suggestions are welcome!

Mail-notification
I attempted to fix this awhile back in Debian.
Could you test latest release in ubuntu, namely 4.0~rc2.dfsg.1-4 please?
The option is in mail-notification's preferences and should work as
expected.

Public bug reported:
Debian changelog entries since the last ubuntu version:
mail-notification (3.0.dfsg.1-10) unstable; urgency=low
* [debian/rules]: Improved regexp detecting evolution-dev version.
* [debian/patches/06-evolution_browsing_fix.diff]:
Fixes issues with browsing evolution
> This is probably just because people like me did not install the
-evolution package... Why are they separate?
I've seperated evolution support so that the mail-notification package
would not force users to install evolution if they're not using it.

I believe this has been fixed in debian's 3.0.dfsg.1-5¹.
We're now at 3.0.dfsg.1-7 and 3.0.dfsg.1-8 is making its way thru.
¹ Look for the patch 03-proper_cmd_handling.diff:

I fixed this in debian's 3.0.dfsg.1-5.

As far as I know, Jean-Yves doesn't plan to include the required
modifications as he disagrees with debian-legal's interpretation.
