As I wrote above it is a matter of both kernel and the opensource AMD

I've just tried ubuntu maverick and it no longers has this problem. I suppose

No! That bug is reffered to karmic. I don't have any problem in karmic. I am
having it on lucid from alpha2 to rc.
Plus I have tried the terminal way (alt+F2/3/4/5/6): sudo shutdown -P now, sudo
shutdown -h now, sudo /etc/rc0.d/S90halt stop and it reboots again, without
having ANY error message.
Hope these will help

First of all thanks for the immediate response and the time you spend on my

It is possible. It reboots even if I run in terminal sudo /etc/rc0.d/S90halt

Hello. I've just installed ubuntu lucid beta2 in order to check whether the bug

My laptop does not terminate whether i use the indicator or the terminal (sudo

I' m not sure whether this is the right place to post, but since it is similar
(if not is the problem) I'll post it here.
Well lucid beta1 does not shutdown (switch-off) either from livecd or
installed. On the contrary it reboots! Even when i use "sudo shutdown -P now"
or "sudo shutdown -H now".
I 'm not sure whether it 's plymouth or something else, yet my computer does
not shutdown.
I've also tried sudo shutdown -P now and sudo shutdown -H now. -P reboots and
-H crashes before shutting down showing the message "shutting down"
