Exactly. Many ppl I know, are affected by this bug.

This bug on my Maja is still there.
When I unhold package "python-software-properties",
and upgrade them from 0.82.7-1-linuxmint2 to any newer wersion
the bug affects again.
That same is with pycurl - 7.19.0.x package.
Downgraded works. New don't.

Ok, here is some help to restore the system from "TTY_only" after
tasksel removed important packages:
sudo apt-get install $(for i in $(cat /var/log/dpkg.log |grep -oP

Which basically looks in the dpkg.log for pack
This bug also affects Linux Mint 13 Mate.

Downgrading "python-software-properties" to version 0.82.7-1-linuxmint2 (maya)
or to 0.82.7 (precise) helps.

Yeap, on my Ubuntu with Skype 4.x is that same bug.
Black screen if I run Skype normal (from icon/launcher without this command).

I see just a "black screen".
With other programs (wxCam) my "webcam" work well.
Only in the Skype and Cheese are problems.

1) Remove any form of Nvidia drivers , configuration files and anything related
to it. I dropped to vesa drivers but that is not necessary.
1) Backup /etc/apt/sources.lst and change all instances of "maverick" for
"lucid"
2) In Synaptic, remove xserver-xorg and jockey-gtk
3) Reload/up

After system update to RC release Im again affected by this issue.

Here is the solution:
If you have the "leaked" ubuntu-beta font installed, just delete it.
Check whether they are.
Should be in ~/.fonts or /usr/share/fonts/truetype
Delete all the *ubuntu* fonts from there.
Next, run from terminal:
sudo fc-cache -f -v
Then install original "ubuntu-private
No, is not.
After upgrade of Chromium + new ubuntu-beta fonts, (both in latest versions)
is that same. Browser shows in terminal: "segmentation fault" and don't start.
