ok after dist-upgrade i ran
update-grub
rebooted
and selected the .26 kernel, and wifi is good to go

im having the same problem and its driving me nuts!
i think whats part of the problem seems to be that when you do the dist-
upgrade grub doesnt add in the .26 kernel , but installs all the
restricted drivers for said kernel and FUBAR!
im testing this theory now
but how does one roll back from
