Hi Michael,
after upgrading failed I did a reinstall of dapper so I am not able to
provide you with any more files right now. However, when the error
occurred I was provided with a file term.log (just as apt.log and the
other one) which was empty---therefore I did not append it to the bug
repo

Tried the upgrade by
gksu "update-manager -c -d"
which after downloading returned:
Could not install '/var/cache/apt/archives/libc6_2.4-1ubuntu10_i386.deb'
The upgrade aborts now. Please report this bug against the 'update-
manager' package and include the files in /var/lo
Installation process halts at the final step, i.e. updating grub. Tried
it several times.
Alternate Installation CD (text based debian installer) works just fine,
though.
