no avail. I'm going to try compiling the latest alsa driver. Very

I'm seeing this bug in my feisty installation and also on the gutsy live cd.
Knetworkmanager was working fine until one day it started hanging on: 28%
Activating Device. Here's the end of /var/log/messages (in the gutsy live cd) :

Doesn't hurt anything? I'd say that not being able to use Adept to do a
dist-upgrade is a pretty big deal. For a new user who isn't very
comfortable with the command line it could be a serious impediment.
Nothing in my /var/crash for adept...

True enough. I've seen it before and ignored it. Problem is that the
tray icon isn't showing up so I thought it had crashed. I realized it
was running when I unplugged AC and saw the notification. Still no icon
though.

anything... attempting to run guidance-power-manager results in :

Yup. After reinstalling the packages linux-image-2.6.20-2-generic and
linux-headers-2-20-2-generic it seems to be fixed for me.

It looks like maybe I was wrong and it's just suspending immediately
after I unplug AC power and then open the laptop. It is reporting AC
status correctly. I think this may be a duplicate bug then.
