I somehow managed to solve the failed installation by adding a ppa with a newer
version of php5.
Removed package completely, removed ppa and then reinstalled php5.
Very strange behavior of Ubuntu!

Hi,
please find my bug report. Since the upgrade from 12.04 => 12.10 the menu bar
