I have exactly the same problem as described above, the degree sign is rendered
as uppercase Upsilon. Is there a workaround to fix this (intelligible to
somebody who has never had to deal with fonts on linux before).
I'm using evince 2.30.3-0ubuntu1.2 on Ubuntu Lucid Lynx. Thanks.

I am having the same problem here. I also use Ubuntu 9.10. I am running
it on a Dell latitude E6400. I have 3 gigs of ram. This has one of those
obnoxious on-board Intel video cards that shares memory with the system
ram. Maybe that has something to do with it. It used to work fine. It
worked fine
Yeah this problem fixed its self with an update. I am not sure which
one did it. For me it actually went a way before switching to Karmic.
I just did a typical update for Jaunty and one of them did the trick. I
am now running Karmic and I have not noticed it in Karmic. I will note
that while on
Anyone ever come up with a workaround or know when a fix for this issue
will be in place? Every thing works great with the docking port except
sound. It's a little annoying.
PS
Just to confirm that it's not the hardware, the sound does work in
Windows, but who wants to use that?

Audio not
Yeah, same problem here. I have a Dell E6600 with the E-Port docking
station and it behaves the same way. The sound comes from the internal
speakers unless the external speakers are plugged in directly to the
laptop. I am using Jaunty.
"cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#* | grep Codec" outputs the f

However the key problem in this bug is that NO flash-plugin was
installed; installing flash player 10 is a secondary objective here

Same issue for me in 2.20.0 under Ubuntu 7.10.
It can only find the file IF I happened to be AT the file folder in which the
file is contained. For example, it cannot find a file on the desktop when the
home folder is selected for search. It can only find the file when I set the
start point to
