I am not sure if i have understood the issue here correctly. Is it
specific to --register-nodes or does it also effect
--register-{cluster,walrus,sc}? If cluster, walrus, sc were also
causing problems, could you see if the current r1220 resolves the
problem for them (it does not address nodes).

Sorry, I was unclear. My suggestion was to convert this into a bug
about being able to configure the default endpoint (HTTP vs HTTPS)
which is generated in eucarc. Currently, the eucarc always contains
the HTTP url.

- #21 the change of "+" is only for the purposes of computing the hmac, not
processing the message contents.
- #23 the bug referenced is not related to this issue.
There look to be (at least) two issues here:
1) double base64'd data
2) authentication failure w/ certain user data string

Support for SSL is already in the code as of 1.6.1. The blocker to
including it in the original release was client support (as Neil
mentioned). This is on the agenda and will be addressed shortly.
