Well, on my ATI 9250 I've fixed the same problem only on VLC. The OpenGL output crashes the VLC, so I tried with X11 video output and it has worked VLC: Options -> Preferences -> Video -> Output -> select X11 video output. Be sure to select the advanced option -- [feisty] multimedia big problem
