Good morning,
I had upgraded to grub2 and it worked fine until yestereday's update. Now grub
is missing. It boots straight into karmic without showing jaunty or windows.

I deleted smb.conf and it did the same, so not it. However, I got the
Desktop back by manually installing ubuntu-desktop.

I think its a live bug. While updating my 64 bit, I got a message asking
if I want to use package maintainer samba file. Not knowing better and
since it was the default, I accepted. I cannot now boot into the Desktop
though I can log into an fail safe xterm. Any help would be appreciated.

rate is maxed out at 54 HZ when it should be 75hz. I have GEForce 6800
video card. Other boxes with same gutsy build are also kvm'd to same
monitor but show refresh of 75 hz on older video cards.

Unfortunately, I faked it already out by installing 64 bit version of
6.10 then updating it to feisty 5 over the internet. That bypassed the
migration. 64 bit works well but no desktop effects..the white screen
problem.
