hi, when burning an audio cd containing 1 mp3, then split with brasero,
all but the first track is loud static. i have tried with multiple mp3s
and they all result in the same behavior.
steps to reproduce. please have an mp3 handy.

If you are using any USB devices, unplug them (reboot) and see if you

I Installed smbfs and added an entry to fstab to mount a samba share.
After a reboot the "failed to initialize HAL!" error popped up when
logging in. Removing the fstab entry and a reboot solved this problem.
Running Ubuntu 6.06.1 with all updates applied.
