I noticed that if I close the lid, wait for it to suspend, and then remove the
usb ethernet adpater, all is fine.
But if I close the lid and remove the adapted immediately it will auto resume.
And if I remove the adapter first and then close the lid, as well.
Does this mean that there is an issu
maybe as a first step somebody could provide guidance on how I can flesh
out this bug report. e.g. right now I cannot suspend my laptop, is there
some log I can post here to help narrow down the issue?

When I press suspend or close the lid, it suspends for a few seconds and
then resumes. If I don't notice it and put it in my bag, I end up with a
burning hot laptop.
This happens very often, but not always. So there are some conditions that
trigger it. Interestingly, I just

the gnome-terminal window is lost. Seems to always be the terminal but at the

I'm also having this problem in 14.04, with qtcreator installed from the
ubuntu repo. Felix' solution in #28 does not work for me. Installing
qtcreator from Qt's own installer worked:

Whoa, this was reported 5 months ago already. Who would think this is
such a difficult feature to implement... ;) I just started using Muon,
now that the authentication issue has been fixed, but I think I am going
to go back to synaptic. This bug makes it totally impossible to use.

Anybody can write a version of Jim's script for KDE (comment #36)?
Apparently, in gnome the
/desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/touchpad_enabled gconf setting is
modified when the touchpad function key (Fn-F5 on my Dell E6420) is
pressed. What happens in KDE and how to write a callback for that?

I modified Jim's script. Basically I added a toggle function that
queries the current enabled/disabled state and toggles it. Simple. The
trick is then to tell KDE to call that script whenever a certain combo
