I am well aware that my solution was quick and dirty, but it worked fine
for what I needed -- and pam_mount provided the tool needed. I wish I
could provide you with more information on this, but recovering my data
and then recreating the affected partition from scratch was my first
priority. I hav

from my 8.04 system backup). Besides, I had that partition neither

I've just upgraded to 8.04. The issue remains: While there are no
apparent problems with the umlauts on console/konsole, only empty spaces
occur when trying to enter umlauts in aspell.
What can I do to help you track down the problem?

Sure.

This is the env output:

I CANNOT confirm this is an encoding issue.
Working on the plain console with umlauts works as fine as working on
konsole with the special charakters, such as ä, ö, ü and ß. Aspell also
perfectly recognizes words with umlauts, as long as they are spelled
correctly. However, when I am trying to typ
I have just updated my Kubuntu from 7.04 to 7.10 and was a little
shocked to see that one of my favorite LaTeX styles went missing.

Thanks Sam, but that doesn't work for me. I have tried it with three
different ISPs, they all don't work. Plus, downloading the upgrade tool

I can confirm this bug too. On my Thinkpad R60, WLAN work fine with
kernel 2.6.15-27-686 (both on Edgy and Feisty), while there is no life
sign with 2.6.20-16-generic (although the 'ipw3945' module is loaded) on
Feisty. Altough there are no errors/warnings whatsoever, the WLAN LED
remains inactive.

Binary package hint: aspell
I started to work with aspell on Edgy a few days ago. I really like it a
lot, since its performance with composed words is a lot better than with
ispell.
It seems that aspell is unable to handle German umlauts (e.g. 'ä' or
'ß') correctly. It does
