I had the same problem which I had logged as a bug # 311320. Obviously
too many bugs going around in the same category. This fix resolved my
bug.

I have an Acer Aspire 5920 ZD1 with GMA965 (X3100). Loaded Hardy clean
on it. Got an external LG 22' LCD Screen. When I boot with the external
