i have the same problem.
but in my case, i tried to upload a backup (from my iphone 2g) made with some
windows tool to my new 3g. contacts, dial history and other things worked
perfectly. but even if i add new songs, the iphone shows "no content".
(i created the firewireguid with "sudo lsusb -v
