I just want to add, that the proposed solution works for me as a
workaround with a tiny modification. Since /usr/lib32/nvidia-
current/libGL.so is a symlink on my system, I needed to substitute it
with an actual file which on my system is: /usr/lib32/nvidia-
current/libGL.so.280.13
Now it works f
I've followed the path of the proposed patch by comment #23, so
i edited
/etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-settings-daemon.desktop
and changed the line starting with Exec to look like this
Exec=/usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gnome-settings-daemon-sleep
then i've created the file
/usr/lib/gnome-settings-da
For me, this issue seems to be fixed. Haven't seen this problem
manifesting itself at least for a week.

After updating from the US mirrors, the issue was fixed for me. xserver-

My upgrade went smoothly (have nvidia) and even the driver was updated,
but after a restart X won't start, because nvidia driver complains about
incorrect version of ABI. Starting Xorg with a suggested switch
(-ignoreABI) gives me a black screen. It is a blocker for me (lost my
desktop).

I'm also hit by this bug, using it as mine main OS i get theme reverted
back to default after every login, after few seconds. I can get the
panel decoration back killing gnome-settings-daemon and restarting it,
but the icons and overall theme is the default one. Just the window

Here is how i did it:

got into same problem and successfully solved it using a how-to found somewhere
(i can't find it again, sadly).
The problem is with usb3 drivers, all you need to do is unbind those and rebind
after resume.
:00:1a.0 and :00:1d.0 are files found with something like ls
/sys/bus/pci/drivers/
This is affecting mine Asus M50SV too.
All other FN+ keys are working.
Its really annoyin since I dont know the command to issue ("echo something >
somewhere") to make my screen brighter.
Now im using suspend->resume (which sets my brightness to a good level).
If anyone knows where to set brightne
Got this problem on 8.10 and couldn't solve it, so i installed ubuntu 9.04
alpha from cd didn't use dist-upgrade, and the problem disappeared.
I think this is not gonna help you much, guys, but anyways, I think
reinstalling can help (which is not optimal).
Good luck

[apport] depmod crashed
I figured out, how to manage depmod -a failed on that SIGSEGV error:
need to run: depmod -a 2.6.27-7-generic
I hope I attached the right debug info for you
Thanks for your answer

the problem can't be reproduced using commad sudo depmod -a. The command seems
to finish its work fine.
Can't it be because I am running other kernel version (2.6.27-6) since the
2.6.27-7 seems to not be installed okay for me to boot it?
