Possible workaround:
- after the install fails, can repair it with DPKG "--force-overwrite":
apt-get -o Dpkg::Options::="--force-overwrite" install --fix-broken

still an ongoing issue, seems that some of the low-level *.so shared-
objects ought to be moved to their own DPKG, and not included in-line
directly in the higher-level DPKG of each application.
