I think that this might have happened because part of the patterns were
fixed, and later it was discovered that the fix is not complete, but the
status was not properly reset.
Ubuntu upgraded RAR, but didn't upgrade mc. You need to backport the

fully understand the concept of "file extensions".
Rename the file from "MaXX-Desktop-v2.1.1-LINUX-x64-tar.xz" to "MaXX-

extfs is implemented (a shell script is called for every file), so there
is nothing we can do about it (other then re-implement extfs system

I've enabled -proposed on my trusty machine, upgraded to the new version
and then performed the test as described in this bug report. It worked
for me now out of the box and I couldn't identify any problems with the
new package... so, I think, it's good to go.

Listen, it's the third time that I'm telling you to check "Options" ->
"Panel options" -> "Navigation" -> "Lynx-like motion" and see if this is
what you want. It is thoroughly described in the manual (`man mc`).
