Same with me. I use Ubuntu 9.10. Installed OpenOffice.org 3.2 via ppa.
Writer just shuts down when I click options from Tools menu.
OpenOffice.org became unusable.

I have Ubuntu Gusty Gibbon. I installed the language tool bar to be able to
check the grammar after I complete my writing and also any spelling mistakes
that inadvertently crop up and those that are not detected during spell check.

When I tried to open the file, software sources dialogue opened. I unchecked
'debian' in the 'Third Party Software' tab. Is this what you meant? Is there
any way to edit the file and take out the last line.
After I did this, the message in the bulb of the status line has changed to
'There are 1
I have attached the copy of my /etc/apt/sources.list
