I apologize but I already circumvented the problem by removing evince,
doing a complete reinstall of the gnome/x11 stack and then reinstalling
evince.

If I try to perform a full-upgrade to noble beta, dpkg wants to remove
the evince package.
And if I try to only upgrade evince, then dpkg wants to remove inkscape
and gimp (in addition to removing and adding all the t64 lib stuff)

I've been running Ubuntu since the first release, and I have always removed
apport immediately after a clean install.
Now, I can't do that, because xorg+xserver-xorg seem to have hard-

I've tried everything mentioned thus far, and nothing seems to be working.
I have a setting in the BIOS where I can toggle between Basic/Advanced
Touchpad, but the BIOS settings are not saved for next boot. I read somewhere
else that setting it to Basic would fix it.

I do not understand the purpose of this piece of software.
It seems that when I found out about it and removed it, the only
functionality I lost was being able to "quickly" search using the
