thanks for that. I'm sort of a newbie who got sloppy - I did not purge
before and had trouble with some files remaining after re-install. Prob why
I could not install dkms before, which I could now.
Virtualbox is working, many thanks again.

Yes, it's a small ssd of 128 GB, but I don't store much on it. Allocated
10GB to Virtualbox, when installing it. So there should be enough.
