this is a duplicate bug but they specifically told us to report a new bug
against 14.04. I'm running Xubuntu 14.04.1 and I have an init.d script called
minecraft which has the following screen command
as_use
I can confirm that installing kernel 3.13.0-38-generic now makes
mounting CIFS shares work again. WHOOT WHOOOT. THANKS!

sorry i wasn't more clear, i am using the default ubuntu kernel
3.13.0-37-generic from the normal repo and it's NOT mounting a CIFS
share. I have not attempted to install any custom kernel posted in this
bug report. i simply booted into the previous kernel that's on my
machine 3.13.0-35-generic and
i too am affected by this bug, I am running kernel 3.13.0-37-generic
within Xubuntu and get the same error when trying to mount a cifs share
that mounts just fine using kernel 3.13.0-35-generic. When can we expect
to see a fix thru apt-get?

I am running Xubuntu 14.04 (upgraded from 13.10) and I just experienced
the blank screen after I resumed from a suspend. I wasn't having
problems with resuming from suspend until today. I put my desktop into
suspend by using the logout button in the upper right corner and
choosing the suspend optio
i am having all sorts of weird things happening with this nic as well in
Xubuntu 13.10. Sometimes websites cant even be resolved like github.com. It's
very strange, it's autoloading the r8169 driver but my chipset is

Trying to run apport-collect to add to a r8169 network slow bug, it
opens another tab in firefox and I allow this computer to access my
launchpad account BUT it still fails to connect to my lp account. Here's

i too am experiencing the same issue. some webpages don't ever fully
load. very strange behavior. here's the results from running that apport
command. Another tab did open in firefox and I DID ALLOW access to my
launchpad account for this computer so I don't know why it didnt' do

I to agree that this is a blatent disregard to user privacy and
basically goes against what Richard Stallman and others wanted for the
Free Open Source Software Movement ages ago. GNU at it's heart. I feel
it should be an "opt in" versus and "opt out" by default. Please fix
