not getting it from DHCP?
The behavior I noticed pre 10.04, is whatever domain the machine gets on

Ok I now have a work-around procedure that seems to work for me.
1. On fresh install of 10.04 create /etc/mysql/ and add debian-start file
(extracted from mysql-server-5.1 package).
- If this step is skipped the configuration of the mysql-cluster-server-5.1
will hang.
2. Install mysql-cluste
There appears to be more wrong than the missing "debian-start" file. Using a
fresh install of 10.04 I created the /etc/mysql/debian-start file before
installing the mysql-cluster-server package. This time the install got a little
further, but still failed:
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for u

server-5.1 on 10.04 LTS.
The init scrip complained that the /etc/mysql/debian-start script was missing:

Since my upgrade to 10.04 I am seeing the exact behavior as Tom
describes above.
This line in /etc/acpi/powerbtn.sh fails for me because "pidof kded4" is
returning 2 PIDs (one is defunct, also new since upgrade):

Darwin's patch solves the immediate shutdown issue on my system (8.10 w/
KDE 4.2). Its still not 100% because /etc/acpi/powerbtn.sh trumps my
powerdevil settings.
Currently /etc/acpi/powerbtn.sh looks to see if gnome-power-manager,
kpowersave or klaptopdaemon are running to let those programs hand

I was having this same behavior in Hardy, and preforming the same
workaround.
I had resolvconf installed because the vpnc package recommends it be installed.
I have since uninstalled resolvconf and installed network-manager-vpnc and the
problem disappeared.

I have seen this "grayed out Network Manager" issue on a few Hardy systems.
In every case there was an interface other than loopback configured in
/etc/network/interfaces.
Please verify that your /etc/network/interfaces file looks like this:

Looking at a Gutsy system I found what has changed. On gutsy udev would
assign group rights of "plugdev" to USB portable storage, and Hardy is
assigning "disk".
It looks like the following line in /etc/udev/rules.d/40-permissions.rules is
the culprit:
ATTRS{type}=="0", GROUP="
This is still an issue for the official release of hardy. Adding the
users to the disk group does stop the error, but this feels like a work
around.
The "safely remove" option worked fine in Feisty and Gutsy without
having users in the disk group. Also If I remember correctly it worked
fine on Har

I was seeing very similar behavior on a 8.04 Hardy Kubuntu beta install
and my 1GB shuffle, until this morning when Amarok was updated to 1.4.9.
Amarok 1.4.8 would not auto mount the ipod. I would have to manually
mount it then "connect" it in Amarok. "Disconnect" from within Amarok
worked perfect
I am experiencing the same behavior (8.04 Hardy Kubuntu fully up to date
as of 04/10/2008 @ 10:30AM EDT).
Amarok 1.4.8 would not auto mount the ipod, but I could manually mount it then

unmount the device.
But now w/ 1.4.

I am experiencing this same incremental back up issue with duplicity on
my Ubuntu Feisty servers. It appears that the files get backed up but
--verify, restore, and the incremental backup does not “see” them. I do
not have this problem on my Edgy servers (Version: 0.4.1-8ubuntu1).
