The bug disappeared for me at some point during the Feisty development
process - over a year ago - so I'm afraid I can no longer give any kind
of meaningful feedback related to this bug.

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: laptop-mode
The laptop-mode package does not attempt to put the AC97 sound card (if
present) into a power saving state. This is achieved by running the
following command as root:

Sorry, removing the "splash" kernel parameter only appeared to fix the
problem on that one boot, however on subsequent boots the problem has
returned, regardless of this setting. It is likely then that usplash is
not at fault, although I am not sure what is.

I also have a Mobility Radeon 9000, and while the open source drivers do
work, they are too slow. I have tried and failed to install the 8.28.8
driver directly, with the log reporting that the kernel module cannot be
built, so a legacy driver package would be very helpful.

Changed to affect usplash, as disabling usplash on the kernel boot line
in "/boot/grub/menu.lst" (by removing 'splash' parameter) appears to be
a workaround.

Regarding the wireless, my laptop has a wireless indicator light, that
is supposed to come on when the card is active. However, at the moment
it is only turning on at the same time as X is starting (i.e. after long
delay). Now you've mentioned this, I'm sure it used (in Edgy) to come on
earlier, so
Public bug reported:

In the latest version of Kubuntu Feisty (Herd 3), there is an

procedure, and X starting. During this time, there appears to be no or
minimal hard drive activity. The display is of tty8,
I tried installing the Fesity package on the off-chance it might work on
Edgy, however there are failed dependencies. I don't want to upgrade to
Feisty until it is stable!
I extracted the .deb file manually, however, and it seems to work
alright. The bug (crash on export) is fixed in 0.6-3.

Yes, libc6-dev is installed (latest version). I compiled by creating a

No, I think it is a different bug. The bug you linked to above implies
the user actually sees the export dialog box :-

However for me EasyChem crashes before showing the export dialog box.

I think the problem could be in the kernel module. I tried compiling the
latest version (0.7.6) from source, with no immediate fix. Then I
noticed the kernel module (wacom.ko) had not been overwritten after make
install, so I overwrote it with the new version manually.

I'm not sure if this is worth mentioning or not, but I tried to get an
old Aiptek HyperPen 6000U tablet to work (that did sort of work on
Dapper - although there was no pressure sensitivity), but I couldn't get
that to work on Edgy either.
