As a workaround I did the following:
sudo systemctl disable nvidia-persistenced.service
sudo apt remove nvidia-prime
sudo nano /etc/gdm3/custom.conf
and uncomment #WaylandEnable=false

For those willing to see this issue resolved in Karmic, just forget

Locale definitions are wrong, unfortunately Martin Pitt won't fix this
locale definition issue and the problem persist over the years. None of
the persons who ignore this problem have this issue in their locales, so
don't tell me it is a random task. It is time to take responsibility on

I know this may appear to be a dumb question, but... Did you have
tracker-applet enabled in Sessions? I had a similar issue some days ago.
I found that tracker-applet was missing form Sessions. Both trackerd and

This is not a bug actually, but the silky package requires libsilc-1.0-2
which is not present in the Gutsy repositories. Gutsy is present in
universe. Using the Feisty libsilc-1.0-2 package fixes the issue. Using
silky 0.5.4-0.1 (gutsy).
