I did as requested as soon as I saw the message. This isn't a new issue.
This is only follow-up from the old issue I reported on the user forum. I
tested for presence of the problem and it appears to be fixed.

I believe I have a workaround provided by a kernel engineer I was
discussing the issue with.
Adding the following to the kernel boot options resulted in the keyboard
and touchpad working without issue:
i8042.nomux=1 i8042.reset
