I think this bug can be closed. The icedtea6-plugin ( 6b12~pre1-0ubuntu5 ) seems to address the NullPointerException issue. The site still doesn't work, but the problem now seems to be with LiveConnect, see attached log. I believe this is related to Bug # 207064 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/
