I just compiled from the KDE3.5 branch and the same behavior can be
observed there (Kopete 0.12.4).
I've tested MSN, Jabber and AIM-protocols against a Trillian-client...
Only AIM seems to be affected by this issue

I'm also experiencing the same behaviour.
I'm using the AIM protocol and the other client (that receives the
-sequence) is using Trillian.
