Tested again today with the live-cd from the 28th. This time the
installation was less sluggish, though selecting my country still took
about 5 minutes. Perhaps it's not wise to fit every major city in the
world in an incredibly slow rendering drop-down box? Also, the drop-down
box has heavy "ghost
I will check that today hopefully, also with the latest Intrepid
version.

Public bug reported:
I downloaded the daily live CD for Intrepid on september the 18th.
During the installation heavy display corruption could be noticed,
however. Besides the default skin being wrong during the install (known

I can confirm that I do not get this error anymore on my HP Compaq 6715b. I
tested it using the latest 64-bit Live CD on March 8. It now fluently boots
into the LiveCD and the installing process ;)
Thanks developers!

Good to hear it works for you again, julioar15. I will test on my HP
laptop as soon as possible to see if it's fixed there too.

Well, it does exactly the same on my HP Compaq, so there must be some
mutual issue that's not Dell Inspiron only.

Exactly the same thing as the bug reporter reports happens to me on my
HP Compaq 6715b. Whatever extra options/safe-mode I try, it always
stalls on "Running local boot scripts (/etc/rc.local)". I tried last
with the live cd from February 9. I will try again after Alpha 5 is
released.

I still got this issue after changing to English(GB), so the
localization is not the issue unless the Feisty localizations are
incomplete so it can't switch 100% properly. I'll apt-upgrade my Feisty
again and check back if I still get the issue in some way. Of course
I'll need to create a situation
The default Ubuntu terminal, so I guess it's gnome-terminal. Note that I
did use latest of Feisty.

A bot (or a user?) suddenly set this bug to APT, I don't think this bug
is related to APT however. More likely it's a terminal issue. How do I
change this?

I'm testing Herd 2 when I found this bug.
I was in the terminal you can logon to from the login screen ("safe mode").
I did gksudo "apt-get update" and found new packages, then I did gksudo

It found 90 MB of new packages, good of course, but then it asked m
This issue is bothering me too, it's even listed on the Scribus webpage
now under "Ubuntu Issues". I mean, Scribus is even in the Ubuntu Weekly
News #19 but they refuse to fix this bug.
