I've the same the same problem. One time I recognized the camera works. Most of
the time it doesn't.
I've also problems with hotplugging usb-devices. see

Maybe this causes the problems with the camera.

This bug is driving me crasy. Short success by uninstalling jaunty
kernel. After short time same bug. lsusb doesn't find hotplugged usb-
hardware.
