Thanks a lot, icons are back ! The only remaining problem is that icons
are huge (about twice the size they had before the bug) but at least,
there are here.

I have exactly the same problem but without a laptop (my machine is a
desktop). I had to use acpi=off to boot from CD. Impossible to start
after installation. I wiil try to use this option again but as mentioned
before, this is not a long term solution. I really don't understand how
a so severe bug
I have exactly the same trouble as FlatLander but with a Trust 400-V2. I
should mentioned that it was working almost perfectly (I just couldn't
start X server with tablet plugged in) in Ubuntu 9.04. This is annoying
to lose such functionalities after upgrade.
