Public bug reported:
Behind a proxy (in my case a college proxy), Account integration does
not work. Although authorisation with Google Accounts is complete,
email, calendar, documents etc. data does not show up on the respective
default applications.
ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.10
I do not know if it is too late now, but I found a solution
(http://askubuntu.com/a/790003/242381) that solved my problem. Worked
for Ubuntu 16.04.

Well, we seem to be getting somewhere...Thanks Barph633.except gedit
doesnt work on mine, so I cant edit this fstab file. Is there some
other editor I should/could use. I feel like a blind man here but I
didnt expect to have to learn Linux just to upgrade.
Luckily this is just a hobby for me
fsck command as above and had the same outcome as Vick.
While updating, I had a request asking if I wanted to keep the same
config file - to which I said YES. Could that have any bearing on this.
Clutching straws I know....
