I also have this problem on a fully updatet Ubuntu Hardy. When I try to
adjust the volume, the volume just goes up and down seemingly randomly,
and one of the channels drops out temporarily while I keep adjusting the
volume.
I have a HP nx6325 laptop.

I had this problem on hardy and gutsy, but now it runs much faster, and
I can change resolution in the gui! Thank you!
