That's what I started doing. It's easy, just go into CCSM, Effects ->
Window Decoration. Enter '!(widget=1)' in the "Decoration windows" and
"Shadow windows" boxes.

Another find - windows without window decorations (in my case, the
Juniper Network Connect client) do not move when the widget layer is
toggled.

I am also experiencing this bug on an HP z800. I have tried many
different combinations of Nvidia (proprietary) and Xorg versions, all
with no effect. I suspect that Xorg is the victim of a bug in another
process rather that causing the behavior itself.
