After a couple of restarts, the mouse pad started working. I don't know
how it got fixed, but somehow it is got fixed. Please remove this from
the bug list. Thanks for your patience.

My mouse pad is not working after upgrading to the latest ubuntu 11.10.
During the install, the installation complained that there are some
problems and the machine might be in unusable state. After restart I saw
