I found the origin of the bug: indicator-me was not installed so I guess
there must be an issue when upgrading from karmic to lucid

After upgrading from karmic to lucid, indicator-applet-session won't
work anymore. It successfully launches but don't display anything but
"No notifications" ("Pas de notifications" in french). Left click does

Using the given driver I was able to run ndiswrapper and it seems to
work just fine now.

Just wanted to add a "me too" here.
And BTW I tried to use ndiswrapper instead but I can't make it works:

I reopened this ticket because I'm affected by this bug too.
I add a caldav calendar pointing to a Google calendar. When I start evolution,
it freezes as soon as I try to handle my calendars.
