Luckily, while the original machine I used for testing has gone, another
one exhibited these symptoms just recently. I can confirm that 'debconf-
show nslcd' shows the AD server found in DNS. I agree that Rafael's new
package seems like it will fix the issue. Thanks!

We have nslcd already installed, with /etc/nslcd.conf listing our LDAP

response to the bug report. Or any bug reports I've had to check.

Fridtjof: Found a workaround. It's to remove libnss-ldap and use libnss-
ldapd instead. This appears to be related to the privileges libgcrypt
ends up with, causing it to fail with direct connections. The daemon

privileges. Still shou
I've not investigated a workaround for this, as it happened on a test
upgrade, and we're still using 10.04 LTS on production machines here.
Sorry.

Incidentally, I think this is the reason my upgrade from 11.04 to 11.10
had problems, too - 16 packages produced errors when doing things like
'addgroup', and I had to remove ldap from nsswitch.conf to finish the
upgrade.

Deleting .config/evolution did not work for me, however removing the
evolution packages (and so the associated entries in gconf) and
reinstalling did stop this happening.
