Also a problem with python3-pip.
sudo apt-get remove python3-pip
wget https://raw.github.com/pypa/pip/master/contrib/get-pip.py
sudo python3 get-pip.py

I uninstalled and reinstalled alsa-utils in the following way:
sudo apt-get remove alsa-utils
sudo apt-get install alsa-utils
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
The ALSA script now gives:

And the headphone jack is now w
I tried updating my ALSA... but I successfully downgraded it:

But I had a look at it seems that the ALSA 1.0.25.1 update I did through
the ubuntu update didn't update the kernel part... it still appears to
be 1.0.24. ...any pointers?

Okay, I updated to ALSA 1.0.25.1 via the "proposed updates" option in the
ubuntu update settings.
The problem still exists. Not fixed.

of the screen it enacts the "window snap". But this window snap is
unnecessary in expo mode and it ends up in unexpected results.
