i can confirm that the hang issue completly disappeared after i created
and installed the patched compiz-plugins package! so it's finally
working now.
btw the bug exists in the recent git repos on freedesktop.org, too.

arguments. e.g. it's not possible to activate logging for the ietd
without modifying the init.d file.
