Disable/Remove firefox-globalmenu seems to be the best solution for me.
It solves not only the middle-click-problem for me. Once the firefox-
menubar is not outsourced to the top unity-bar anymore, the firefox
menubar reacts sooo much faster.

The new changed theme in proposed is working and better, but because of
the low resolution it still looks very unprofessional. I would prefer to
use the text-theme in Kubuntu, but unfortunately there is no plymouth-
theme-kubuntu-text, only a ubuntu-text theme.

packages. Normally, plymouth falls back to a text-mode when a
proprietary driver is installed, and this is much better than, if all
users get a lower nice bootscreen.

I have the same problem with kubuntu lucid beta1.
The only measure for me to reduce this high memory usage, is always
starting with an empty session and remove ureadahead.
Normally I like intelligent memory usage, but it´s not funny when my
system will be slower and slower when it begins to swap

With Karmic + KDE 4.4.0, policykit-kde also is missing (lol, I dont
noticed that before.), but the KDE´ish policykit authorization dialog
appears.
I'm glad policykit-gnome is working, until the problem is resolved.

There was no driver update, but it seems that the problem slowly
dissolves here on my PC. If I finish a Qt4 program, it result still in a
zombie process, but now this prozess quit independent after a short
time.
Curious, maybe this is not only a Nvidia issue?

THX, this "fix" at least the logout / reboot issue, but the zombie

I have the same issue on my desktop PC with Kubuntu Jaunty, after the
latest updates. Only Control-Alt-Backspace and reboot/shutdown from KDM-

Here on Kubuntu Jaunty was no sound too. After kuser was updated this
morning, group 'audio' was kicked away from my username.
@Alan Pope: All you have to do is, add 'audio' to your Username back in

I can confirm this, when I disable direct rendering, desktop-effects are
back with 2:1.5.99.902-0ubuntu4. Don't know if it works with ubuntu3
too. I haven't try this.
Both are working, kwin and compiz here on Kubuntu Jaunty.

I have the same issue since the last updates with Kubuntu Jaunty Alpha 4
& Nvidia 180.27.
After login, I see only the grey Splash Screen background picture and
can move around the mousecurser. I have also tried to install compiz,
and use it as the default window manager. It also don't work.
When
I have the same problem.
I'll wait and hope it will be solved sometime, because I think it is
unwise to workaround the actually problem in an unstable distribution.

Mhh... With amazement I see now the download of the packages is
displayed as in the console . But when these packages will be installed,
it`s changed into a "How I hide this process as best from the
Users"-Window. With this One-Line-Method during the installation, nobody
can seriously see what`s ha
I would rather prefer a more detailed view (as in the console), that is
showing the whole prozess as a list and gave correct mistakes, if
something can not be installed.
In (K)PackageKit you can enable the option "Always show detailed view",
so it should be able also in Adept 3.0.

I can confirm this problem. Adept 3.0 cant show any packages from Third
Party software reporitories. When I update the sources within Adept 3.0,
Third Party software reporitories will be ignored too.
Through the console, I can update & install from Third Party software
reporitories without any pro
I have attached the kern.log file rather than the kern.log.0 as I
think it's more likely to be relevant (will contain record of the
restart).
I will download a hardy image and get back to you with the results.

I finally made sound work on Inspiron 1720 and kernel 2.6.22-14-generic
by doing the following:
1. Download ALSA driver 1.0.15 rc2 (alsa-driver-1.0.15rc2):

2. Extract somewhere.
3. ./configure --with-cards=hda-intel,emu10k1

doesn't work anymore.
I'm on Dell Inspiron 1720.
With kernel 2.6.22-13-generic and method B (work around at
