Forcing the protocol to IMPS2 as in Bug 737051 or Bug 734187 does fix
the scrolling problem and smooths out the pressure required to register
taps. Unfortunately, it also removes the detection of the touchpad

Binary package hint: kpackagekit
On many package installs KPackageKit shows a confirmation dialog with a
"click to run" box. On Natty this box often has duplicate entries. The
problem appears to be strictly cosmetic; apps are installed correctly
with only a single instance.

Possibly related, the pressure required to register a mouse click when
tapping the pad varies wildly, for no apparent reason. Sometimes the
tap requires only light pressure, as expected, while other times the tap
must be quite firm to register. This is distinct from the behavior in
the preinstall

This appears to be the same behavior reported in bug 689529 and bug
745394. My state file shows that it thinks wireless is enabled, but I
can verify both from the LED status and from iwconfig that wireless
networking is not enabled.

I also have the invisible cursor problem, but a recent PPA kernel by
Brian Rogers includes a fix. For those having an invisible cursor at
boot, you may wish to briefly test that kernel to see if it fixes the
problem for you. Please be aware that the kernel is primarily intended
to fix Bug 541511,
Brian, I've been using your latest ppa20+v9+cursorfix-generic kernel,
and it has made my system usable again, unlike the previous attempts.
The cursor freeze has disappeared, and I can once again watch videos in
Dragon Player and VLC, neither of which could be used at all before.
