This has something to do with qt3 I believe since entering these
characters produces the following in .xsession-errors:
/usr/lib/qt3/plugins/inputmethods/libqimsw-multi.so: undefined symbol:

/usr/lib/qt3/plugins/inputmethods/libqsimple.so

Switching from gusty to hardy destroyed something in kdebase. It could
have been the switch to xorg 1.4 aswell.
Symptoms are similar to #69045. That means, that there seam to be no
dead key listener to create umlauts or accents on letters. For ex

Screenshot of both skype and systray app running attached. I don't know
why the amarok icon (underneath the skype icon) is there. Amarok is not
running at the time, but was before. This is on kubuntu gusty. With a
fresh gusty second testing installation this does not occur. Only after
first update.

I hope I am not duping. After the latest qt4 4.3 update on gusty, the
system tray icons of qt4 apps like i.e. skype or even the example qt4
systray app have difficulties with transparency.

Out of the box in gusty, normalize-audio is _not_ found. Adding search
path with full path does not work either. normalize-audio is installed
in /usr/bin via normalize-audio package.
