field to enter the binddn is the "Bind DN" field, which makes sense,
only it doesn't seem to have any effect for simple authentication. In

This was resolved by moving my ~/.kde out of the way. Probably the bug
should be closed, but maybe somebody wants to pursue it as an upgrade
bug. This was a "fresh install" of Intrepid, but I still had my ~/.kde
from Gutsy.

I just had the update complete without a problem on a server with an
attached iSCSI SAN - the same SAN as the one I had the failure on, so
maybe (in my case) it's a problem of having two machines attached to the
same storage device... or maybe it's unrelated.

killing the vgcfgbackup process, either - it goes into uninterruptible
sleep, presumably waiting on i/o. I have to comment that line from the

I was able to resolve this. Reinstalling postgresql-8.3 didn't work,
running pg_createcluster manually didn't work: "Error: The locale
requested by the environment is invalid."
The root cause turned out to be the LANG/LC_* settings on my local

attached to each of them with strace and saw no activity. The kdm
process seemed to be hung up on a read. Peeked at the xorg log, saw
nothing interesting. I was just about to switch back to gdm when bam, I

+1, though I never moved the screensavers submenu item (I'm 99% sure of
this). It's not where it apparently should be, though. This is on
Edgy.

Since I've already filed this bug before, and had it rejected, I'd like
to chime in before it gets rejected again. Alsaconf is a buggy, sorry
excuse for a configurator that happens to work. Before dropping it,
please see that its functionality is replaced. For Gnome users, I hear
